The majority of this book is about the approach you should take towards learning french (how many hours a day you should practice, immersing yourself by listening to french media, etc), and FAR less about pronunciation or the actual french language. If you're interested in language, this book gives really basic information that most people would figure for themselves (of course trying to cram a lesson in before bed isn't effective). If you're interested in the french language, I wouldn't call this book necessary. There is very little pertaining to French and more about how one should go about learning it. I give this book 2 stars. It is a "study guide" as it states, but it's all pretty basic information you would already know and could say about learning any other language. This book does have links to other resources which is a plus. The parts of this book that pertain to French can be found in other books that are probably a better value. « I find that googling a problem usually gets you answers to even the most obscure questions « I think this sentence summarizes best the whole book. A boring, obvious, and mostly useless book.It’s entirely written in ENGLISH and mostly just talks about how to go about planning to get ready to start thinking about learning French. The book is packed with links to the author’s website (where of course he wants you to buy more things from him), as well as a bunch of other links to various French resources, which of course could have been found just using Google).Unless you need someone to help you use Google to find French related stuff on the Internet, stay away from this book as it will certainly NOT make you « Fluent in French ». « French Step by Step » is a much more useful book resource to learn the nuts and bolts of French.Also, language website people, please stop using the word « hack ». A useful piece of advice or helpful mnemonic doesn’t mean that you « hacked » the language. Sorry, just my personal rant.
